There are three hotels at The Disneyland Resort. The Disneyland Hotel, The Grand Californian and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel. When I was working for The Walt Disney Company I decided to use my discount to stay at each of the three hotels. Paradise Pier is my least favorite of the three. It is not a bad hotel by any means. Compared to the other two it is was not as special. However, this hotel could end up being the right choice for you and your family.

Since the name of the hotel is Paradise Pier, beach themed decor can be found throughout the hotel. In the lobby there is a statue of Goofy with a surfboard. The beach ball pillows in the rooms are adorable! They sell the pillows in the gift shop due to popular demand. The lamp in the room has a Mickey surfboard. For me the theme at this hotel is so fun for families.

One side of the hotel faces Disney California Adventure. The hotel is across the street from the Paradise Pier section of the park. I loved that we could see the park from our room. From what I remember our room was on the sixth floor. For a better view of the park you will want to request a room on a higher level.

There is a pool with a slide which is a big hit with the hotel guests. One of the nice features of staying at the hotel is watching the fireworks from the pool area on select nights. They play the firework music so you get a great experience without having to stand in front of the castle for hours to save a spot.

If you are interested in dining with the characters while at The Disneyland Resort Paradise Pier has Disney’s PCH Grill. The restaurant is only open for breakfast and dinner. This is the only character dining location where Mickey Mouse shows up. Breakfast is the only option for dining with the characters at this location. This is the place to come for dinner if you want beach fare. They have burgers, hot dogs, roasted fish, s’mores and more.

Staying within walking distance of the parks is fantastic. Plus, as a Disney hotel guest you can get early entry to one of the parks on select days. Other perks to staying on property is being able to have merchandise you purchase in the park sent to the hotel. That way you can shop without having to carry the bags around with you. You can pick your items up the next morning at the front desk.
